There is a general misconception among natural arthritis remedies readers that arthritis is an age-related medical condition that afflicts only the senior citizens or the elderly.

It may be true with osteoarthritis, the most common type of joint disorder that usually affects adults of both sexes in their middle age. But what most people don’t understand is that there are other types or causes of arthritis.
Arthritis, also known as joint inflammation, is defined as an inflammation of one or more joints and involves the breakdown of cartilage resulting in pain, swelling, and limited movement.
Cartilage is responsible for protecting the joints and serves as a shock absorber when pressure is placed on the joint during walking or running. It allows for the smooth movement of our limbs. Without cartilage, the bones will rub together and can cause pain, swelling (inflammation), and stiffness. Doctors usually prescribe arthritis pain relief and anti-inflammatory drugs to help alleviate the pain.
Arthritis, or joint inflammation, can be due to the following causes:
·	Broken Bones;
·	Infections that are usually caused by bacteria or viruses;
·	An autoimmune disease (the body attacks itself because the immune system believes a body part is foreign); and
·	General “wear and tear” on joints.
Generally, as soon as the injury heals, the inflammation disappears. The infection is treated and the disease is cured. However, there are some injuries and diseases wherein the inflammation remains stubbornly and continuously causing pain that may lead to deformity. This condition is known as chronic arthritis.
People suffering from arthritis experience the following symptoms:
·	Joint pain
·	Joint swelling
·	Stiffness, especially in the morning
·	Warmth around a joint
·	Redness of the skin around a joint
·	Reduced ability to move the joint
Arthritis is a condition that can occur in men and women of all ages. Other types of arthritis include:
·	Rheumatoid arthritis (in adults)
·	Osteoarthritis ( middle age and above )
·	Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (in children)
·	Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
·	Gout
·	Scleroderma
·	Psoriatic arthritis
·	Ankylosing spondylitis
·	Reiter’s syndrome (reactive arthritis)
·	Adult Still’s disease
·	Viral arthritis
·	Gonococcal arthritis
·	Other bacterial infections (non-gonococcal bacterial arthritis)
·	Tertiary Lyme disease (the late stage)
·	Tuberculouus arthritis
·	Fungal infections such as blastomycosis
Osteoarthritis, being the most common type, is a chronic disease which causes the cartilage between the bone joints to deteriorate and may cause painful sensation and/or stiffness. New pieces of bones, called bone spurs, may grow around the joints as a result of osteoarthritis. Until now, there is no known reason yet as to the cause of osteoarthritis but it is generally being associated with aging. However, factors such as metabolism and genes can play a role in its development.
There are many factors to consider before your doctor can prescribe arthritis pain relief treatment plan such as the particular cause of arthritis, affected joints, severity of arthritis, and how the condition affects your daily activities. Age and occupation will also be taken into consideration.
Eliminating the underlying cause of the arthritis is one of the goals for treating arthritis. However, not all cause are curable like in the cases of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Relieving pain and discomfort as well as prevention from further damage becomes the focus.
Lifestyle changes and exercise can greatly help in improving the condition of those suffering from arthritis. Medications such as arthritis pain relief and anti-inflammatory drugs can be taken in addition to exercise and lifestyle changes.

When a person grows old, the body eventually gets weaker, since it has been alive and functioning for the past, let’s say, seventy years. The body is strong enough to stand the test of time, at least for a hundred years or so. Of course, it depends on the person if he/ she maintains their health and body to last them through their golden years. But not all people endure being old. A lot of cases concerning health conditions are showing through old age. Since the body gets weaker, it is more prone to illnesses and diseases that may harm or hurt the person more, hence, they have become more vulnerable to such conditions.

A common type of arthritis that affects people over the age of 60, is osteoarthritis. Since symptoms of arthritis are mainly regarded as joint inflammation, or the feeling of pain or stiffness, this type of arthritis also has the same conditions, but is occurring mostly when of old age. Aches and swelling with weakened motion in the joints, particularly hands, hips, knees or spine are the common symptoms of arthritis, specifically osteoarthritis. According to the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), osteoarthritis is described as the deterioration of cartilage and its underlying bone within a joint; also bony overgrowth. Basically, this illness is breaking down a person’s cartilage. Since the cartilage is the tissue that is wrapped around the ends of the joint, having this joint disease will make the bones rub together, causing joint damage over time.

This condition can be very painful if not treated immediately. Due to this illness being parallel to old age, it is very crucial to know the patient’s condition as often times as needed. But old age is not necessarily the cause for such disease. Being overweight can be a factor in getting osteoarthritis. It can alter your movements in a number of ways. It will limit your movements up to the point where you cannot reach for that certain object because your fats are way heavier than you think. By not moving that well, or without proper exercise, this may cause to reduction of motion in your joints. Another factor in considering osteoarthritis is by simply injuring a joint. A person who has injured his joint can also lead to this disease, if not medicated promptly or properly.

In dealing with osteoarthritis, it is important to know different kinds of arthritis pain relief. Since most of the people with this illnesses are old, it is crucial for them to be able to function more properly and without pain. Arthritis pain relief comes in the form of simple painkillers, topical pain relief or pain killer creams, pain relief gadgets, exercise, weight control, and surgery. The most suggested method for arthritis pain relief is therapy. There are certain types of therapy that are much considered in dealing with osteoarthritis. Therapies such as massage, pet, warm water, music and hypnotherapy are among them. Moreover, relaxation and meditation are just an overview of possible arthritis pain relief.

With this in mind, it is substantial to know this certain type of arthritis, its causes, and how to relieve the person of it. To our grandparents, or those who are overweight, be sure to ask advice and help from your physician in order to lessen, if not stop, this disease from getting worse.

Arthritis, even mild cases can be painful and uncomfortable. It may hinder the mobility of a person and have adverse effects to one’s health and well-being. The causes of this ailment is not clear but aging, joint injury, and genetics are partly blamed for the development of this condition. In addition to these factors, anything that can damage a joint in any way may cause arthritis. Injuries, infections, overactive immune systems, and wear and tear are common causes of arthritis. Individuals who workout too much or over-train have increased risk of developing this ailment. Certain occupations involving repetitive bending and squatting may increase the risks of developing arthritis.

Arthritis is a disease may cause painful swelling and inflammation of the joints and are experienced my millions of people around the world. In the United States alone, it is estimated that by 2030 there will be nearly 70 million affected by this disease. Cases of arthritis may be mild or severe, short-term or permanent. Medical researches suggest that there are more than 100 forms of arthritis but the most familiar form is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis takes place when the cartilage that supports the joints ear out, a process that occurs over a long period and is common among older people. Most people affected by this condition may experience pain, swelling, and stiffness, in the hip, knee, or hand.

Inflamed joints that hurt when in motion are some of the familiar signs and symptoms of arthritis. These joints may be stiff and can be aggravated by movements or activities like walking, writing, typing, and many more. Stiffness is most noticeable after extended periods of rest or after waking up in the morning. Individuals with arthritis may also encounter extreme fatigue, lack of energy, or weakness.

Other symptoms may include:

Stiffness—People with arthritis may feel stiff and creaky for a short time until the joints get moving again. These individuals may also experience stiffness from sitting.
Muscle weakness—The muscle around the joint, especially the knees may become weaker.
Deformed joints—Joints may look enlarged and deformed.
Cracking and creaking of the joints—The joints may make cracking and creaking sounds.

Presently, there are no available cure for arthritis but there are medications that may provide arthritis pain relief. Doctors often prescribe individuals with osteoarthritis, large doses of over-the counter pain relievers like aspirin and ibuprofen. Some prescription drugs like celecoxib, rofecoxib, and valdecoxib are shown to give effective pain relief. However, these drugs may bring minimal or serious side effects to individuals who use them. That is why arthritic individuals should seek the approval of doctors before taking medications for arthritis pain relief.

Many health experts believe that regular exercise and a healthy diet are powerful tools for arthritis. They recommend a combination of stretching, range-of-motion exercises, strength training, and aerobic exercises. Individuals who engage in these activities may develop joints that are stronger, more flexible, and more stable. As these things take place, arthritis pain may disappear and medications for arthritis pain relief can be lessened.

Pain and stiffness in the joints may mean one thing—arthritis. This disease may cause painful swelling and inflammation of the joints and are experienced my millions of people around the world. In the United States alone, it is estimated that by 2030 there will be nearly 70 million affected by this disease. This health ailment may be caused by pain and swelling in the joints. Cases of arthritis may be mild or severe, short-term or permanent. Medical researches suggest that there are more than 100 forms of arthritis but the most familiar form is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis takes place when the cartilage that supports the joints ear out, a process that occurs over a long period. Individuals who workout too much or over-train have increased risk of developing this ailment.

Other types of this joint ailment may include the following:

Rheumatoid—The body’s immune system does not work properly. This condition affects the joints, bones, and various organs of the body. Individuals who suffer from this ailment may feel tired and have fever.
Gout—This is caused by build-up of needle-like uric acid crystals in the joints. The big toe is often affected by this ailment.
Systematic lupus erthematosus or lupus—This is caused by an overly aggressive immune system. This disease is about nine times more common in men than in women.
Ankylosing spondhlitis—This condition affects the joints in the spine. In severe cases, the one infected may experience stooped posture.
Bursitis—The major joints of the body are protected by small cushions called bursae. Bursitis takes place when these cushions are overused, they become sore and swollen.
Tendonitis—The tendons that connect the muscle becomes inflamed. This kind of arthritis is common on individuals who spend too much on computers.
Septic arthritis—This ailment is caused by bacterial infection that leads to pain and swelling

Inflamed joints that tend to hurt when in motion are some of the familiar signs and symptoms of arthritis. These joints may be stiff and can be aggravated by movements or activities like walking, writing, typing, and many more. Stiffness is most noticeable after extended periods of rest or after waking up in the morning. In addition to these symptoms, individuals with arthritis encounter extreme fatigue, lack of energy, or weakness.

Presently, there is no cure for arthritis. There are only different medication out in the market that are designed to give relief from the pain this condition brings. Individuals with arthritis usually consume large doses of over-the-counter pain relievers like aspirin, naproxen, and ibuprofen. Some prescription drugs like celecoxib, rofecoxib, and valdecoxib are shown to give effective pain relief. However, these drugs may bring minimal or serious side effects to individuals who use them. Cardiovascular bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding, and skin reactions are some of the usual side effects that might be encountered in using pain relievers. Recent medical studies show that consumption of food rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a group of polyunsaturated fat, is essential in alleviating joint pains caused by arthritis. The best sources of these fats are fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts.

Engaging in healthy diets may prevent the development of arthritis or give arthritic pain relief. With daily consumptions of essential vitamins and minerals, individuals who experience arthritis are supplying the body the components it needs to fight the pain and swelling that causes joint pain. Maintaining healthy food consumptions and having a physically active lifestyle is essential not only in the prevention of arthritis but also improvements in one’s overall health.

Arthritis is one of the most debilitating conditions affecting mostly people over the age of 55. It doesn’t only affect that specific age group, but also a percentage of young adults. It’s not just a simple disease but a group of conditions that may cause damage not only to your bones but also to other organs in the body.

Different forms of arthritis manifest different symptoms. Common symptoms of arthritis include: persistent joint pain; tenderness in a joint which is aggravated by movement; inflammation indicated by joint swelling, stiffness, redness, and/or warmth; pain and stiffness in the body, especially around the joints; joint deformity; loss of range of motion or flexibility in a joint; unexplained weight loss; non-specific fever; and crepitus (weird crackling sound in the joints.)

There are over 100 different types of arthritis affect approximately 46 million Americans today. The three most common types are: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout.

Osteoarthritis is more commonly called as degenerative arthritis. This develops from a simple breakdown to an eventual loss of cartilages of one or joints. Cartilages are protein-based mass that serve as cushions in between joints. This type of arthritis usually attacks weight-bearing joints such as the hands, feet, and spine. It is mostly related to aging and it progresses further as the years pass. It usually occurs at the age range of 45-60. Men are at higher risk for osteoarthritis before age 45. Women, however, are more prone to it around age 55 specifically around the hand, foot and knee joints. Severe cases of degenerative arthritis require total joint replacement, mostly of the hip and knee joints.

Rheumatoid arthritis may also affect different joints, and as previously mentioned, it may affect some body organs and even our blood. It mainly affects the synovial lining of the joint. The synovium is a soft tissue that lines the non-cartilaginous surfaces within joints. This issue comes as a secondary effect of infections. In this case, the body’s autoimmune system malfunctions and attacks healthy joint tissue, causing inflammation and joint damage. Although it is not as degenerative as osteoarthritis, it may cause joint deformity in a mild level.

Gout is caused by displacement of uric acid crystal to the joints. Also known as hyperuricemia, which literally translates high uric acid content in the blood, it is a metabolic ailment wherein uric acid builds up in the blood and crystallize in the joints of other parts of the body. Chronic gout attacks may lead to hard lumps of uric acid deposits around the joints, and in the process decrease kidney functions and form kidney stones.

There are different kinds of treatment for the different forms of arthritis. There are medications available that aid in arthritis pain relief. Antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used as relieve pain and decrease inflammation on affected areas. It has to be paired with constant visits to a physical or occupational therapist to ensure that mobility and range of motion is maintained.

Arthritis isn’t just a simple joint pain that we can disregard. The pain alone is difficult to ignore, let alone the complications it will bring if it remains untreated. Nobody is safe from getting arthritis as there are forms that have causes yet to be defined. Bottom line is, take care of your body – be mindful of your diet and exercise constantly. You’ll never know when this sneaky disease will catch up with you.
